Your Way Home
Winner of Design Exchange Design Exchange sixth annual Connect Post-Secondary Design Competition in 2017-18
Collaboration with Sisheng Su, 2018
About The Competition
This provincial, post-secondary design competition seeks to explore design that is accessible to the greatest number of people, to the largest extent possible, regardless of their age or ability, across all design disciplines.
Our Design
Your way home is a transit ticket vending machine with a double-sided screen on the side and a roof on the top.
More about the design
The first challenge was a tight time frame. Sisheng and I had about a month to work on this competition, from researching, ideating and finalizing. What's more, it was also the final weeks at OCAD, so we didn't have an optimal amount of time to work together on this project.
The second challenge was the research part. We were both newcomers to Toronto, and we rarely took any public transit systems. Since this competition is provincial-wide and includes almost all public transportation systems, the amount of research we had to do within the tight time frame was a bit overwhelming.
Division of task:
Researching
Idea generating
Brainstorming
Narrative
Interaction design
Layout design
